The main features will be a group of men who come across as a sought of gang , all slightly weird and crazy , basing themselves at a derelict cabin in the middle of the woods . We begin with three of the men walking through the woods , all dressed in black , street Goth clothing . You automatically see a huge contrast between them and the environment they are in , the men are slowly making their way towards the cabin . Outside is the rest of the squad , they greet each other and continue doing what they are doing , we have some sitting around arguing , some cooking etc.. Before the music speeds up a beautiful girl comes out of the cabin , she greets a few of the men sitting around In a very 'gang' like way , fist bumping a few of them . You notice that she is subtly whispering the lyrics of the song . We get the impression this girl is some sort of leader to the men , as she slowly makes her way in front of the cabin , being watched by some of the men sitting around . As the music speeds up and the beat comes in she begins to dance , as a sort of entertainment for the men , the camera is constantly cutting between different characters . Showing some men smiling to each other and some becoming very excited , it goes on and continues to show the different characters , the girl is frequently laughing with the men and moving around to do different things (but constantly whispering the song lyrics) , towards the end of the track she makes her way towards the motorbike and we get the impression she's leaving , before she drives off the song ends.
INSERTS
We plan on having very
derelict furniture outside , a sofa , chairs etc… to contrast with the appearance
of our characters , We plan on having a fire pit , people at a barbecue . We
also need every day possessions which will give the impression that these
people are based at this shelter . Things like books just lying around , bowls
and household items . Hopefully we can borrow a motorbike (just for placement
in the video) and a dark grey dog tied up to the cabin.
LOCATIONS
We need the use of
derelict cabin or shelter in the middle of the woods , a small cabin with space
around it for props . The forest should look fairly damp , foggy but green and
lively , with little sunlight shining through , we would use effects like fades
and tints to create more of an atmosphere.
CASTING
We are looking for ten fairly tall boys , around the age of
16-19 , a mixture of races . We will be looking for confident people , able to
improvise and follow the themes of the video . We will also look for a girl ,
of similar age , natural beauty , model-like body and slightly odd looking to capture
the audience and to show that she is the sought of leader to the boys .
STYLING
Fashion will be
essential in the video , the outfits of our characters will be the huge
contrast in the video against the derelict and dirty environment they are based
in . I am very interested in fashion and I understand that the costumes used
will add lots of value to our concept , it will add to the environment and general atmosphere . The fashion movement
we feel is best is the ‘high end ‘ street Goth culture combined with quite a
grunge look . Of course we will struggle to spend loads of money on some of the
world’s most expensive clothing but we can easily rip off some of the styles
used.
CINEMATOGROPHY
Our colour palette should be cold , dark , misty , foggy , Smokey
and hopefully we can use a faded effect , similar to the ‘upper echelon’ video.
This adds to the creepy and weird atmosphere , it will also link to the dark
and modernist clothing being worn . We will be suing smoke machines for this
foggy impression.
We will be using a lot of slow motion shots , to add to the
laidback atmosphere and the slow beginning to our song . Also using a lot of
zoom in shots to concentrate on minor details and expressions for a very strong
impression of the characters being used.
Overall we want the
shots to have a sense of sophistication and originality , which will really add
to the stylish and modern side of our concept.

ReplyDeleteYou demonstrate good knowledge and understanding of teh commissioning process and have benefited from having Emily speak from Ploydor Records. You have blogged what you learnt well and this is represented by the treatment you provide of your music video. Whilst your treatment embodies the key concept behind the music video, you do need to give more consideration to how this is presented - something which I am more than happy to help you with - to produce a presentation of your concept. As soon as your treatment is ready, please post along with preparing your storyboard. Good work this week.
