On Monday we began the lip sync exercise . We were given set of lyrics to learn (shown below). We split into groups of three , with appointed jobs on set. Each person in the set had to have a turn at singing the lyrics and being filmed by the other two members.
We used a 'playback' which was on an ipad instead of the original board , this allowed us to match up the song when editing . It simply had to be held in front of the camera for 5 seconds before the song began . We all had a turn using the playback , the camera and the lip syncing .
By actually singing instead of trying to lip sync , it made the clips look much more realistic.
After everyone had been filmed three times , we went into the editing suite to combine all of our clips that were shot by every group. Beginning by putting all clips onto final cut pro and cutting them all to match a point on the playback , so that all the clips started at the same point at the beginning of the song . When adding a new clip we would have to delete the sound as we would only have the song over the top . We simply then cut different bits out of all the clips at points at which the lyrics changed or the beat changed , leaving us with a final product of every person in the set singing part of the lyric.
